Free Medical Camp
Hundreds of Kilifi residents have benefitted from a free medical camp organized by the Wananchi Maternity and Nursing Home in Chasimba, Kilifi County.
The weeklong medical camp held at the shopping center has seen many town residents receive free health services among them breast and cervical cancer screening and HIV testing. The hospital Managing Director Dr. H.B. Fondo said that majority of the patients who had visited the camp had respiratory infections and nutritional deficiencies.
“We have noted that most of the patients need nutritional advice since the ailments they suffer from are related to nutritional deficiencies. Other major ailments we have discovered are respiratory infections,” Dr. Fondo said.
He urged residents of the town to take advantage of the camp and seek health services at the venue since everything was free.
Ibrahim Ali, who is one of the beneficiaries of the medical camp said that he was grateful that his daughter was treated of a stomach infection without him having to pay a single cent.
“I haven’t paid a single cent and you can see my daughter has been given medication to go take at home,” Ali said while on his way home with the child.
Another beneficiary, Happy Rehema said that the medical camp had helped many people and called on the hospital to be organizing such on a regular basis.
“I wish we could have more of such camps in various parts of the County so that those who can’t access health care services can benefit,” Rehema said.
Antony Juma who had gone to have his blood pressure checked also urged local residents to take advantage of the free health services.
